5 Day Vacay

by Sara on February 6, 2013

Hello, and happy Wednesday!

The pancakes I flipped in honor of National Pancake Day yesterday (did anyone get a free stack at IHOP?) were supposed to be the stars of today’s post, however my dear laptop had different plans. And by that I mean, my laptop jetted off on an impromptu vacation to the Apple Store Hospital, and won’t be returning until Saturday.

So…rather than wallowing in loneliness (waaah!), I’m taking an impromptu vacation, too.

Ahh, if only. ;)

All joking aside, my laptop bit the dust yesterday, so I wanted to pop in to let you know that I’ll be taking a blogging vacation until it’s fixed. (Thank you for letting me borrow your laptoplast night, Elaina!).

But fear not. I won’t be disappearing completely! I’ll be updating my Instagram feed regularly (username: Sarabeara2), so you can find me there when you’re feeling Nourish and Flourish withdrawals. ;)

Gosh, I’m going to miss you guys. Until next Monday, adios! adieu! and ciao!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs xoxo

p.s. I will do my best to continue commenting on blogs via my phone/ipad, however, it takes about 10 x’s as long to type on those devices, so if I don’t get to you, I apologize! <3

I want to know…

When and where did you take your last vacation? If you had a free plane ticket to a place of your choosing, where would you go?

Christmas break aside, the last place I traveled was Boston for the Healthy Living Summit last August. I’m itching to leave the country again, though, and if I had a free ticket anywhere, I’d fly to Italy first! :)

Do you feel like you’ve become dependent on your laptop/phone?

Raising my hand.

Oh noooooo!! That sucks. The Laptop injury. Not your vacation. I mean I WILL miss your posts totally, but I think it’s not too bad to be off for a little while (a little!). My last vacation was 2 weeks ago in Spain – I miss it!! http://swissfitchick.wordpress.com/2013/01/26/pictures-from-spain/
If I could fly anywhere now, it would be California – San Diego I guess. I will be in Italy in May! Venice! Italy is beautiful.
YES, I am dependent. My phone died in January for a few days and I was livid. Happy Vacay, Sara!! I am not on instagram, but I follow you on twitter :-)

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

I am SO jealous about your trip to Venice!! Can you pack me in your suitcase? ;) I’ll be living vicariously through you while you travel! <2

My laptop goes with me everywhere….yes, I am much too dependent on the thing.
I hope you enjoy the vacay though! i think everyone needs to unplug once in a while. But I will have to do some instagram-stalking until you’re back :-p

My last vacation was the Mayan Riviera with friends last May. It was seriously such a fun trip! Huge all-inclusive resort that actually had amazing restaurants.

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

I LOVE the Mayan Riviera! It’s one of my favorite places–stunningly beautiful (that clear water!) and so relaxing. Aren’t those all-inclusives great? Limitless pina coladas, beach time, and massive tropical fruit buffets? Yes please. :)

Ahh sorry about your laptop- given how dependent I am on mine, I can only imagine your frustration. Although that being said, I almost always feel so much better mentally after stepping away from technology (doesn’t happen too often though ha)! Enjoy your blogging vacay, Sara! If I could go anywhere right now, it would be to a beach in Australia….meet me there?

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

Oh girl, I am SO meeting you on that beach in Australia!

      Hope you’re having a great week! <3

  • http://thisitalianfamily.wordpress.com/ Rach

Sorry about your laptop! Mine died a year and a half ago and it was awful since I hadn’t backed up a lot of my recent stuff. Sad sad day. Hope it is fixed soon!

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

I remember when that happened! I felt so bad for you, and vowed that I’d back up my hard drive immediately. It didn’t happen. :( Live and learn! I’m still hopeful that an independent shop will be able to recover my photos, but I won’t know for a few days.

Hope you’re having a wonderful week, Rach! <3

Last vacay was to Pennsylvania in October for the Runner’s World half! My ultimate vacay is somewhere HOT!!

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

I totally agree with you–HOT vacation spots (meet me in Aruba?) sound amazing right now!

  • http://glitzglamgranola.com/ Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola

Oh no, so sorry about your laptop! Because we do rely on them so much, it’s very upsetting when something happens to them! (I sound like I’m describing a person…) Hope the Apple store can get it all fixed! Love the idea of an open ended plane ticket! I would go to London first and then like to fly around to all the major European cities…

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

Thanks, Emily! I actually ended up buying a new laptop tonight, but I’m remaining hopeful that an independent store will be able to recover my photos on my hard drive!

A European vacay sounds WONDERFUL! Meet me in London?!

Oh noes! I had some laptop issues last month and had to give my baby to the Apple store for about a week. Thankfully I still had my old, OLD laptop on hand, so I used that instead because yeah… I don’t do so well without my technology! Kind of sad to think about, actually… so we’ll think about vacations instead :D

The last one I took was to Vegas in December, buuuuut I’ve got another trip coming up in March, which I’m going to have to spill the beans about on the blog pretty soon. If I could go anywhere, though? I’d love to see Greece or Australia!

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

Ooooh! I can’t wait to hear about your upcoming vacation!! Are you going with the boooy? ;) And I’m totally with you about visiting Greece and Australia; both countries are high on my list.

  • http://lisalately.com/ Lisa

Oh man, that has happened to me before, but I have another old laptop that I saved “just in case” haha. Paranoid a little I guess. Yep, I’m totally laptop/phone dependent!

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

You’re not paranoid, you’re smart! I wish I had a backup! It’s crazy how dependent we’ve become on technology, isn’t it? xoxoxo <3

  • http://onehealthymunchkin.blogspot.ca/ Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin

I freak out whenever my laptop malfunctions haha – probably not a good sign. I hope yours gets fixed quickly!

I haven’t really gone on a real vacation since freshman year when I went to Cuba. Since then I’ve only done smaller trips like to Boston and Halifax. If I could go anywhere I’d go to France! I’d stop for a latte and croissant for breakfast at a cafe, sight see for the morning, have a baguette with cheese for lunch, shop all afternoon, then go out for extravagant dinners every night! :D Ahh, if only…

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

How awesome that you had the opportunity to travel to Cuba! I bet that was a fascinating trip! I’d love to hear more about it next time I see you! I’ve actually always dreamed of going there, and even considered doing my semester abroad in Havana.

France sounds wonderful…I could go for a latte, cheese tasting, shopping, and an extravagant dinner ANY day! :D

  • Meg @ A Dash of Meg

I already knew about your lap top sis, but still – so sorry this had to happen :( Sure wish I got to see those pancakes ;) I made “amaranth pancakes” ;)

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

Thanks for all your support over the past few days, sis! It means SO much <3 Your amaranth pancakes looked deeeelicious!

  • http://www.cleaneatingveggiegirl.wordpress.com/ Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl

We will be missing you, too! Have a great vaca! ;)

  • http://www.optimistichealth.com/ Carley @OptimisticHealth

Oh man! Vacations are always fun though right?! They involve good food, pina colaadas or in my preference margaritas… Enjoy :)

I do feel lost without my phone…but it is kind of nice too :)

Ooo Italy sounds like a great idea!!

  • http://twitter.com/kailey_x3 Kailey

Enjoy the blog vacation – I know sometimes I love just stepping back from the blog world to have some R&R/no foodie and exercise talk ahaha

  • Karin Butzach

What shit website is this? Scamming on Facebook with a “lose 16 kg a week” add and then claim to be a “healthifying” advice site?! SCAM SCAM SCAM

  • http://twitter.com/kissmybroccoli Heather Powers

My last trip was to Atlanta a couple of weeks ago, but my last REAL vacation was a couple of years ago when I went to St. Augustine, Florida…it was one of the BEST vacations ever! Such an amazing trip full of beachtime, grilling out, site seeing, and of course fantastically FRESH seafood! Mmm! One free plane ticket? SEND ME TO EUROPE! Anywhere…I don’t care…I’ll EAT MY WAY OUT! Lol

Dependent on my phone/laptop? Uhhhh, DEFINITELY! I went totally unplugged from both for one weekend last month (ONLY because I had no service) and while it felt good afterwards, it was so weird not to have it! Instagram will surely be the death of me!
