Snapshot Moments

by Sara on January 21, 2013

Amazing.

I know I use that word waaaay too often, but I can’t think of a better way to describe the past three days. I kicked back and lived. I reunited with some of my best friends. I ate well. I enjoyed.

It’s said that pictures speak 1000 words, but not even a trillion words can come close to capturing the joy I’ve experienced over the long weekend. I’ve felt complete. I’ve felt love. I’ve felt alive. I wish I could add commentary to each and every moment, but I have an inaugural ball to prepare for (Hair! Nails! Makeup! Lady Gaga! Beyonce!)!

So let’s do this. Many photos, few words. Chronological order. (Mostly). Ready, set, go!

Friday night dress shopping.

The color of the season…on my legs. ;)

Mall sanity in a package. (Love this new-to-me treat!).

Late night grocery store steal.

Reunited!

Cinnamon Foam (my fave).

Mezze at Agora.

Swordfish Kebab: grilled peppers, grapefruit relish (shallots,
cumin, olive oil, lemon juice, hot pepper paste & mint)

Hpiti: roasted red peppers, feta, thyme, olive oil

Instagramming, ‘yo.

Arugula Salad: tomatoes, goat cheese, dates, lemon juice, olive oil

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

House Inauguration Party (and patriotic cupcakes).

Coat coveting.

Impulse purchase.

Shopping fuel. (Macarons at Paul Georgetown!)

Coconut!

Patriotic tea.

Caffeine and cupcake kick at Baked and Wired.

Saturday night dinner at Bandolero  (Mike Isabella’s Mexican tapas restaurant!)

A childhood best friend. A college best friend.

Beet Salad: pepitas puree, watercress, cotija cheese

Wild Mushroom Tacos: butternut squash, pickled onion, crispy pepitas

Shrimp Cocktail: charred tomato, chile, lime, plantain chips

Snapper Ceviche :charred mango, jicama, peanuts, mint

Watching my friends freeze from the warmth of my home. ;)

The new hair ‘do.

My own ball ‘do (in progress).

Love you all! I’ll be back to regular blogging in a few days!

xoxo

    Hot dress!!
I love the mint green trend…I’ve always thought it was a cute colour, so I’m glad its in style now.
I think the best thing I ate over the weekend was the turkey and black bean burger with a side of onion rings I had when the boy and I went out for dinner on Saturday. Seriously so good.

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

Thanks, lady! Oooh, a turkey and black bean burger sounds yummy! I’ll be hopping over to your blog soon to check that out!

  • Sally

Omigoodness – amazing is right! Love that you had such an awesome three days, hun! Everything really does look fabulous. Love the mint green trend… heck, love the colored jean trend in general. Loooooving all of the delicious looking eats that are making me kind of regret my decision to have plain old breakfast for dinner tonight :P And love the ‘do ;)

This weekend has been pretty quiet for me because of all the snow and cold, but I spend it baking cookies, playing board games, and watching movies with family and friends. Not half bad now that I think about it :)

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

Breakfast for dinner is ALWAYS amazing in my book–as is spending the weekend at home baking delicious chocolate chip cookies! <3

  • Taylor

Sara you are too cute – and I mean that in the most not-cute-as-in-little-kid-way possible; this weekend looks AMAZING ;) I would love to totally go shopping with you sometime – I am suuuuuch a shoe lover! (well, really any clothes/accessories lover, really!)

Let’s see I….made an amazing cauliflower pizza crust and totally stole Meg’s idea and topped it with avocado, tomatoes, kale and a runny egg – delicious! And waaaaay out of my comfort zone! Also, I learned that I made the goal weight my trainer had set for me today (more on that in an email I’ll send you later!?)

    Happy Monday/almost Tuesday, pretty lady!

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

The cauliflower pizza sounds incredible!! So glad you enjoyed that! I made one a few weeks ago but went the traditional route (cheese and spinach on top), but I need to try avocado/kale/eggs on top next. And CONGRATS on reaching that goal!!! I am so so proud of you, hon! Feel proud! <3 xoxoxo

  • Brittany Lesser

What a perfect weekend!!! You are smokinnnnnn’ in that dress girl! HAve fun at the ball :D

  • http://www.cleaneatingveggiegirl.wordpress.com/ Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl

I would LOVE to step inside your closet and borrow a few things….or, maybe A LOT of things! ;) That dress is fabulous, I love that coat, and the shoes are super cute. You have some great style! Not to mention those mint green pants. I am loving the mint green trend, especially paired with the ever popular coral/orange trend that is also big for spring. Now you have got me in the shopping mood…no bueno!!

    • http://www.nourish-and-flourish.net Sara Stewart

Come on over! I’ll let you borrow whatever you want! Honestly though, my style is really simple! I just gravitate towards bright colors–they’re so fun! xoxo

What an AMAZING weekend…and I’m sure the Inauguration Ball will be the icing on the (cup)cake :) ! Love all your new purchases- the jeans, the dress, the shoes….so stylish! I am a big fan of the colored jeans trend in general but I especially love the mint green shade. It makes a statement without being overly obnoxious! From your Instas I can see that you more than rocked the dress…hope it was a fabulous night!

Your eats are delicious as usual, Sara. Other than seeing you, I really need to come to DC to get a taste of all these restaurants!

I love those weekends that just leave you gushing with happiness! This one sounds like it was perfect for you! The combination of good friends, shopping, and good food is always a recipe for an amazing time. :)

That dress looks amazing on you! And I love those jeans too. I’m a fan of any pastel jeans. I only have a pink pair, but I’ve been meaning to pick myself up a mint pair too! Where are those ones from?

And everything you ate looks seriously amazing – especially those mushroom tacos. I need to come visit you in DC! Like seriously.

Over the past few days I’ve eaten smoked salmon sandwiches, butternut squash risotto, and oatmeal. I’ve drank coffee, tea and water. I’ve bought groceries and the latest Self magazine. And I’ve read “The Man Who Ate Everything”.

Hope you had an amazing time at the ball! I can’t wait to hear about it. :) xoxo

You seriously go to the best restaurants (from what I can see here!) ^_^v And the sleeves on that black dress are just beautiful, and so is your pair of red jeans! If I can ask, where’d you get them? Well I guess I just asked anyway lol

  • http://twitter.com/CountYourVeggie Ashley

What a fabulous weekend! It was just like old times. Lots of smiles, lots of laughs, and lots of love! Thank you for your lovely hospitality. I loved being reunited with some of my best friends and eating well alongside you too! Thank you for picking the most amazing restaurants for us to dine at! I am so happy I got a chance to try some new DC restaurants and I have a list for my next visit too! I am still thinking about the all the amazing tapas dishes we ate. My Baked and Wired Hippie Crack is almost gone. :(
I am so happy you had a fantastic time at the Inaugural Ball! Sorry to hear that your dress was itchy. The price for fashion. You looked gorgeous!
I am all about mint tea and the color mint! I love your new orange flats, but I think I may have to go to Banana and get the Mint Green ones!
I can’t wait for you to come to RI so we can explore. I found a new bakery that has Parisian Macarons. xx
