Did you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day yesterday? I completely forgot to pack green clothing in my suitcase, but I most definitely made up for it by eating and slurping green.
I had no idea that Shamrock Shakes existed until I began reading blogs two years ago.
Apparently I’d been living under a rock.
Yesterday, I finally crawled out from under, made my way to McDonald’s…
…and checked Shamrock Shake off the “must-do” list.
For the record: it really is as good as everyone says––a minty, creamy delight.
A to Z
Today I’ll be checking another item off of my “must-do” list.
The lovely Janetha created this A to Z survey a few weeks ago, and since I’ve never posted a survey on my blog , I think it’s time to pop that cherry.
Enjoy!
A is for age: 26. They say the real fun begins in your 50′s, and I’m more than halfway there!
B is for breakfast today:
I love eggs in the morning! Today, for breakfast part one, I started with an omelet (egg beaters, garlic, green onion, pepper), Laughing Cow blue cheese wedge (spread on the omelet), sauteed spinach with Smart Balance flax “butter,” 1/2 cup pumpkin mixed with vanilla, cinnamon and stevia, and coffee...of course! No breakfast is complete without coffee.
The butter on the spinach makes all the difference! I’m a huge fan of Smart Balance Light Flax spread!
This was breakfast part two:
Rice cake with peanut butter, banana and vanilla protein frosting (1/2 scoop MRM Whey–my new favorite protein powder!–mixed with a touch of water). Rice cakes are so underrated. I love the crunch!
C is for currently craving: SUNSHINE! It’s been raining all week in Boise, but the sun did poke it’s head through the clouds for a few minutes yesterday. Where are you, spring?
As for a food craving, I could totally go for the Ahi Capraccio I ate at the Cheesecake Factory the other night.
This was truly one of the best restaurant dishes I’ve had in a long time. And it came from a chain restaurant. Gulp. If you’re near a Cheesecake Factory (and you love ahi tuna like me), go get in on the action. Now.
D is for dinner tonight: I’m going out again tonight (the perks of being home!), so what I’ll be eating is TBD. I can share last night’s dinner though! I’m not a fan of traditional Irish food (corn beef and cabbage? no thanks!), But I sure do love my greens.

I was pretty full after gulping down that Shamrock Shake, so savory Spinach-Feta Turkey Burgers made a perfect light dinner. Recipe coming soon!
E is for favorite type of exercise: I like almost any activity that makes my heart pump! If we’re talking cardio benefits, I’ll go with running (solely for the feeling afterwards though!). But for FUN ? DANCING. Hands down. Nothing makes me happier!
F is for an irrational fear: Throwing up. It’s been a major fear of mine my entire life. When I was little, I used to keep a bowl by my bed just in case I got sick! :-p
G is for gross food: Dried apricots. No food–NO food–turns me off more! There’s a long story behind it (that involves my irrational fear), but I’ll spare you the details.
H is for hometown: I claim three! Irvine, California (Orange County), Burlingame, California (outside San Francisco) and Boise, Idaho (I’m visiting right now).
I is for something important: My family and my faith. Both offer unconditional love and support!
J is for current favorite jam: Don’t laugh, but I was listening to Boyz II Men while lifting weights yesterday! So at this very moment, I guess my favorite song is “I’ll Make Love to You.”
Kidding. Kind of.
K is for kids: Other than this silly pup…
…No kids yet! But I sure hope I’ll have a few someday.
L is for current location: My mom’s house in Boise
M is for the most recent way you spent money: I just ordered these pants online.

I’ve been searching for orange pants for weeks, and finally found a pair!
N is for something you need: HUGS. They’re more comforting than a million wise words.
I try to give one (and get one) every day.
O is for occupation: Graduate student. Only one and a half semesters left! If you know of any job openings in the health promotion field, let me know!
P is for pet peeve: It takes a lot to irritate me, so I don’t have many pet peeves, but one thing I really can’t stand is passive aggressiveness. I’m not afraid to call people out on it.
Q is for a quote: I have an entire quote book full of quotes that I love and live by. This is just one of my favorites:
R is for random fact about you: Remember how I said I love to dance? Well, I’ll dance anywhere and everywhere, and that most certainly includes bar counters. I’ve won three bar counter-dancing competitions…sober!
S is for favorite healthy snack: It’s hard to choose, but the healthy snack I eat most often is my bedtime snack, which I’ve gushed about way too many times.
Whipped cottage cheese sweetened with stevia, peanut butter, Udi’s granola and flax. Love it.
T is for favorite treat: Frozen yogurt. I worked at TCBY in high school, and even though I was paid minimum wage, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to top the job perks: unlimited free froyo samples!
If I want something truly decadent, I’ll go for a slice of cheesecake.
U is for something that makes you unique: This is going to sound kinky…
I LOVE having my feet tickled.
V is for favorite vegetable:
[click here for 12 great Brussels sprouts recipes!]
I truly like all vegetables! But those that make me weak in the knees include: spinach (sauteed with garlic), Brussels sprouts (roasted), butternut squash (roasted), mushrooms (sauteed or stuffed with cheese) and eggplant (grilled with olive oil). I can’t pick a favorite, but I probably eat the most spinach!
W is for today’s workout: Day 42 of LiveFit Trainer–REST! I’ll probably take Cali for a walk, to stretch out my sore muscles.
Update about my experience with LiveFit coming soon.
X is for X-rays you’ve had: Besides the regular dental X-rays, I’ve had two taken of my pelvis after two separate running-induced pelvic fractures. I’ve never felt more pain.
Y is for yesterday’s highlight: I have two. The first was catching up with Meg while getting a pedicure! (We ended up not being able to meet on Tuesday, like I said in my last post). I needed that pedicure so bad.
AND….
…Interviewing for an internship at the YMCA. I’ll (hopefully) be working on healthy eating and exercise campaigns targeted at youth and Latino communities in Boise this summer. So excited!
Z is for your time zone: Usually EST, but right now I’m in MST (Mountain Standard)
******
So there ya have it: my first blog survey! If you’re a blogger and you haven’t already done this, please do! I love learning more about everyone!
